Fluxes are chemical substance that allow the liquid phase of the metal to brake the superficial tension and run into the joint, so basically is the necessary vehicle to lead the metal during brazing operation.

The choice of the right flux can be dictated by a lot of reasons, the first one is the nature of the brazing metal.
